Arsenal beat Swansea 2-1 to go two points clear at the top of the English Premier League with goals from Aaron Ramsey and Serge Gnabry, in a game that brought back memories of an Arsenal team at their peak.

Bookmakers have failed to entertain the thought of the Gunners actually winning the league this season, but in the form they are in so far, the North London look like a sound betting proposition, especially with all the other ‘top clubs’ struggling to stay consistent.

The win stretched the club record of consecutive away wins in all competitions to twelve and equals a record eight wins in the English Premier League. The team played like a the Arsenal of the past glory years, and whilst newcomer to the squad Mesut Ozil has made a huge impact, it is wonderful to see the likes of Aaron Ramsey back in form after such a relatively disappointing season last year. Youngsters like Gnabry who is only 18 years old will make Arsenal supporters believe the club’s future is finally going on the right track, as the German scored his first goal for his club in only his second League start!

It was a good win for the North London club with the Manchester clubs losing their games and Chelsea drawing with Tottenham. Swansea are never a push-over, with the best pass completion rate in the Premier League this season. However, on the day Laudrup’s team just could not capitalise on their passing game where it matters, in the opponent’s box. And let’s face it, the form Arsenal is in, any team would have struggled to contain them. For Swansea, it will be good for them to draw positives from the experience and in fact, their manager was quick to state that his team ‘must learn from the defeat’.

The real aim for Arsene Wenger and Arsenal is trying to maintain this winning form and keeping the squad injury free. I have to admit that Arsenal looked great, the build up to the both goals was reminiscent of Arsenal at their very best. Here’s hoping that they can continue playing this way, and add to the excitement of which team will be able to hold their nerve and win the best league in the world!
