Check Your Pride In Online Poker

Did you know that poker is one of the most popular games to play in the world?

It is a game which transcends language, culture and now physical boundaries. Online poker means you can log onto your account and play with someone on the other side of the world. Nowadays you don’t even need a deck of cards to play poker! You just need a computer and an Internet connection. It’s quite amazing to think that we’ve gone past the point of even needing friends to play with or even money. By this, I mean there are plenty of sites which will happily offer you free poker to your hearts content, to allow you to get to grips with the game and earn points as opposed to cash.

I’m continually surprised by just how many people will play free poker and still get really involved in playing a game, even though there is nothing at stake. Nothing in the sense of actual monetary risk but there is always one niggling element that we can’t forego: pride. Pride is considered one of the 7 deadly sins and not without reason, for it often allows us to get worked up about something without thinking about the consequence. It encourages us to be condescending but at the same time allows us to take care in ourselves and appearance. A little bit of pride is no bad thing but if you’re playing online poker it can be a very dangerous quality.

I’ve seen some of the best online poker players I know, play hastily and make bad raises and calls just because they don’t want to appear cowardly or they think they have something to prove. It effects all of us and like poker, it transcends language and culture, just make sure you keep yours in check .
