Autoplay Autoplay

Like most games, when scratch cards went online they added all the digital bells and whistles designed to make the game easier, prettier and generally more enjoyable to play.

Online scratch cards brought with them a unique conundrum – scratch cards are quick enough when you’ve bought them from a shop. Do you really want to make them faster by adding an “autoplay” option?

I am anti-autoplay. In fact, I am anti-“scratch all”. What is the point of pressing a button and revealing your whole card at once? Where is the suspense, the mystery, the delicious buildup of anticipation? Half the charm of online scratch cards is the fact that you can have the fun of scratching away without the mess; I LOVE revealing them number by number. Would you rush a striptease, too?

It makes even less sense with free scratch cards. I can almost understand your hurry if you want to get to the money fast, but when you’re not even going to win anything, what’s with the scratch all and autoplay options? Do people really sit there and watch the cards reveal themselves, round after round?
