If you’re favourite pastime was banned by your government what would you do about it?

Well this is the case for all online gamblers in the States, who are banned from any kind of online gambling. Nowadays you can only get away with playing free online poker if you fancy a flutter, but that doesn’t quite hack it when you’re used to playing High Stakes Hold-em on a regular basis. So just how have people reacted since the US Department of Justice enforced a National ban on gaming.

For many Americans who gamble online, it is an agonizing frustration that causes no end of annoyance. Instead of enjoying playing in the bubble of their own home, they now have to travel all the way to the nearest casino, which in some cases could be hundreds of miles away. Some US players still sneakily play, but with almost all payment methods blocked, they might be able to deposit their money, but they can’t be certain they’ll be able to retrieve it.

However there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon. Nevada is pushing for legislation this year and by 2013 it could be the first place in the States to allow online gambling again, a prospect that excites many Americans. However on the other hand, inter-state gambling will be illegal, which means you’ll only be able to play if you live in Nevada. Which is not that useful, considering that if you already live in Nevada, chances are it’s not too difficult to find a local casino.

But if it happened in this country, what lengths would you go to, so you could play?
