Jessica Ennis-Hill will miss the British Championships in Birmingham, as battles to get rid of an ankle injury.

It is a huge blow to the athlete and her team, as she has not been able to compete ever since winning the gold medal at the heptathlon during the Olympics 2012. To be fair, it is one of those injuries that can take a long time to get over, and online sports betting operators and fans will be hoping that the British sweetheart of track and field will be fit for the World Athletics Championships in Moscow next month.

Jessica’s coach, Toni Minichiello is positive the 27 year old can make it, and it has been confirmed by the British Athletics body that ‘she is following a very comprehensive programme’, under the guidance of the British Athletics medical team and her personal physiotherapist Alison Rose.

Jessica has missed quite a few meetings due to this nagging injury, so far the Women’s Athletics Meeting in Edinburgh at the start June, then the Diamond League 100m hurdles in Oslo and the European Cup Combined Events Super League Meeting in Estonia at the end of last month. The British Championships this weekend, has always been seen as a real precursor to the World Championships, so we shall all hope that Jessica Ennis-Hills will be able to come good when the time is right, even without any recent competitive meets.

At present, popular online bookmaker Paddypower is one of the few bookies to have betting markets available on the World Championships. The Mens 100m is always a popular bet and you will not find a better price for Usain Bolt to win the title at 4/9. The Irish bookmaker is offering new customers a £50 Free Bet, so why not take advantage now and win some cash for the summer!
