Mercedes driver, Lewis Hamilton won the Bahrain Grand Prix, beating his team mate Nico Rosberg and Sergio Perez from Force India, in what can only be described as one of the most exciting and thrilling races ever.

At the start of the race, Nico Rosberg started in Pole position, but it was Lewis Hamilton who made the perfect start to take the lead at the first corner. From then on, it was always a race between the two Mercedes drivers, and with no team orders from Mercedes, they both pushed each other to the limit and gave us a truly spectacular race.

Rosberg was always close to the Englishman but after the second pit stop, they both opted for different strategies. Hamilton chose to stay with the soft tyres, while Rosberg went for the slower medium tyre. This meant that Lewis was able to build a lead, which finally saw him 9.5 seconds in front of Nico by lap 40. But this lead was eroded with the crash between Esteban Gutierrez in the Sauber car and Pastor Maldonado from Lotus. When the safety car finally came off the track, it made for an even more exhilarating finish, with Lewis and Nico in a ten lap sprint to the end!

The driving was outstanding with Lewis Hamilton just being able to hold off his team-mate with aggressive defence and some luck! At the end, the two drivers admitted that it was one of the best races so far in their careers, and fans are hoping that there will more to come!

The display should go along way in putting an end to the criticism about the new efficiency rules in Formula One. The second consecutive win brings Hamilton 11 points behind Rosberg, and English fans will be expecting the race in China to put Lewis Hamilton number in the Drivers Championships. Paddypower has Lewis Hamilton evens favourite to win the Chinese GP, with Nico Rosberg second favourite, priced at 13/8.
