It has been confirmed by reliable sources that Manchester United have made a £25 Million bid for Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas.

The ex-Arsenal midfielder has not expressed any formal request to return to the English Premier League, but has been reported to be open to the idea if Barcelona decides to accept the offer. So far the only news to come out of the Nou Camp is that the valuation is below what Barcelona believe the player is worth, however, Paddypower have the midfielder at 4/7 to make the move, so I’m betting it is just a matter of time and getting the right price is all that is required to see Fabregas at Old Trafford.

Cesc Fabregas is a product of Barcelona’s La Masia academy and joined Arsenal at the age of 16. He became Arsenal’s youngest ever player at the age of 16 years and 177 days, when he played against Rotherham United back in October 2003. SInce then, the young man has grown in talent and became a key player for Arsenal and this was reflected in him being appointed Arsenal captain in November 2008. Cesc stayed at Arsenal for 8 years, featuring in 303 games and got on the score sheet 57 times. In August 2011, he made the move back to Barcelona on a 5 year deal that was worth £25.4 million.

At Barcelona, Fabregas has played 96 times in the last two years, and have won the Copa del Rey (2011/12) and La Liga (2012/13). It is no secret that the Spanish international loves Barcelona and sees his destiny at the Nou Camp. However, some may argue that he will never be able to fulfil his dreams when his place is not guaranteed, especially with the likes of Xavi and Iniesta being entrenched in their roles.

With Manchester United looking to fill a long time void of quality players in the middle of the pitch especially with the departure of Paul Scholes, it seems like the perfect time and opportunity for the Spanish player to make the switch and be reunited with his long time friend and ex-Arsenal buddy Robin van Persie.
