Wayne Rooney not going anywhere

It looks as if England and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has decided to stay at Old Trafford as there has been no transfer request from the player to date.

This has been the strongest signal so far from the striker who has yet to confirm or deny his intentions all through the summer transfer window, especially as Mourinho has been trying to force the player to make the decisive move. Online sports betting operator paddypower already has Wayne priced at 1/10 to stay at Manchester United, and after looking at all the evidence, it does look as if Rooney will not be going anywhere.

Jose Mourinho and Chelsea have made no secret that Wayne would be very welcome at Stamford Bridge, and after two offers being rejected by Manchester United, Mourinho was ready to submit a third for the striker. This latest offer was to made after their Monday night clash at Old Trafford, but Jose has now made it clear that he will not be waiting around for too much longer and has given Wayne 48 hours to decide his future. And it seems that with the player’s continuing silence and lack of any transfer requests being forthcoming, that it is more a less a certainty that Chelsea will now have to look elsewhere to fill their apparent gap for ‘in-form’ strikers.

The game on Monday night really made it all too clear a couple of facts. One is that Wayne is still an essential part of the Manchester United squad, and his performance on the night was one of the best on the pitch. There may still be outstanding issues that need attention between the striker and the club, no one is disputing that, but Moyes playing him for the entire game and the player’s performance, showed there is enough to build on.

The second fact is that Jose Mourinho is definitely not happy with his present group of strikers and must be desperate to acquire the services of at least one world recognised ‘in-form’ striker. Fernando Torres still has not been able to impress at Chelsea and more importantly, any of the managers that have been in charge. The Spaniard and Andre Schurrle were both on the bench with Demba Ba not even making the squad! So it does look as if Mourinho will have to bring into play his Plan B and Plan C.
